An asian / hawaiin with a scottish last name?
Well, you got what you wanted. A little hawaain/ asian girl.

Let's think back. McConnel is a scottish name, therefore, you would expect her to something other than asian, right?

I am sticking with that theory, let me mess with photoshop until I come out with a red-headed/scottish/european other-than-asian girl.

Is any one with me? I feel very alone in this dissappointment.

I wanted a hawaiian doll! I however, dont think jess will be real Hawaiian looking.... I see a hawaiian doll as having long black wavy to spiraly hair with a darker skin tone and brown or green eyes....
Jess doesnt really look totally asian either.... but then again the picture its really hard to tell!

Messed with photoshop. I still haven't gotten my redhead I have been dreaming for. But I found a new color option.

Also, what if the colors are right on the scan? What would you think about that??

If I can get the link, I will do that, but if I can't... well, i'll find a way!!

Yes and no. I think it is good for AG to take a very ethnic sounding surname and use it for a different nationality. Thats so common in America today and Im glad to see them not playing into a stereotype. I could see someone taking the last name McConnel and having a flaming red haired doll with lots of freckles. Cute yes and probably true in some ways. But also very cliched. But I dont want to see them try to reach too far either and turn her into the poster child of diversity or something like that either. Simply having a multi-racial doll is interesting enough.

Don't forget about Molly MCINTYRE! She has an Irish or Scottish name, but there is no mention in any of her books of her or her father's heritage. I don't think she's Asian although it would be nice if she was.

I do hope she's a redhead, which looks promising. Yes we need an Asian doll and an LE African-American doll, but Felicity is the only true redhead! I know Nellie is too but not as much as Felicity. We NEED a modern LE redhead! Oh-and she'd better have freckles!!!

From what my program did, it looked like she had dark hair. But then I think they did more than just removing one color.

Some of the photos posted can't be correct. I'm a parrot owner and that parrot looks like an Amazon to me (although drawn too small). They are very green (like grass). Maybe if you can get the parrot to be very green, the colors for Jess will be right. But it looks like they changed more than one color tone.

From the picture, I really hope she's Asian.

She looks absolutely nothing like what I've been hoping a red-head would look like: loads of freckles, green eyes, and the curly hair of AGT26.

Jess being Asian leaves a spot for an LE red-head down the line. 2007 will probably be an African American, and 2008 may be the red-head. (I feel like we're talking about the girl Charlie Brown has a crush on, the Little Red Haired Girl, lol!)

This also means that Emily could very well have the red hair she's supposed to have.

I agree with Rach, I'm glad they didn't go too stereotypical with the name. I would have prefered an Asian (if she is) first name, but I'm glad the surname isn't Li or Chan, or something. If she's Asian, I'll be getting her and changing her first name to something Japanese.

Either way, she's definitely going to be pretty!

I think AG is messing with us with the book cover ... I think they purposefully released a recolored, photoshopped cover to keep us from knowing what the doll will REALLY look like ;D. Personally, though, I think she'll be cute, and I"ll be happy if she's Asian, Scottish, or both. As long as it's not another blonde hair girl or brunette with blue eyes.
